Rod McDonald is a living legend of the Hawkes Bay wine community who arrived on the scene in the mid-1990s. Rod worked his way up the ranks from cellar-hand to owner and winemaker of his own wines. 

His Te Awanga Estate now governs over a family of different wines; Quarter Acre, Trademark, Mister and Trade Off. The Te Awanga Estate is a lovely elevated coastal spot, with views overlooking the basin, and out towards the Pacific Ocean.

Sample the fine delights of the Quarter Acre Syrah, or Chardonnay, or Viognier. There’s also ‘The Section’ which is a beautifully styled Merlot-Cabernet Bordeaux-blend.
