Passage Rock

Waiheke Island’s most awarded winery is Passage Rock, which was first planted in 1993 on the eastern side of Waiheke Island. Passage Rock aims to create wines highlighting the strengths of each varietal and vineyard to make a unique wine from that site. Passage Rock grows 14 different varietals and has consistently won gold medals all around the world for their Reserve Syrah and other reds.

 

In addition to Reserve Syrah, Passage Rock produces the following Reserve-level wines: a red blend called Magnus, Reserve Cabernet Merlot, Reserve Chardonnay, Reserve “Wild and Free” Chardonnay, and Reserve Viognier. Their Estate-level wines are more fruit-forward, lighter, and easier to drink. Estate wines include: Methode Traditionnelle Sparkling Wine, Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc, Rosé, Syrah, and a red blend called “Sisters.”
