Mudbrick Vineyard

Robyn and Nicholas Jones purchased the Mudbrick Vineyard property in Church Bay on Waiheke Island in 1992 with the dream of establishing a vineyard and to live off their land. Later, they built a large barn-like building out of mud bricks to live and, ultimately, store their wine in. This same building is now The Mudbrick Vineyard and Restaurant. 

1996 was their first vintage and Mudbrick has continued to make wine yearly and have guests enjoy their restaurant. Presently they have established two vineyards on Waiheke Island and have received gold medal recognition for some of their wines. They purchased Shepards Point Vineyard in 1998 and are pleased to have a vineyard in one of the best viticultural blocks on Waiheke Island. 

On their own vineyards they grow Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Petit Verdot, Tempranillo, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, and Viognier. They also source Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough, and Pinot Noir from Central Otago. All of their fruit from their own vineyards is hand-harvested, and they prune each vine based on how it performed the year prior.
