Carrick Winery
Inspired by the likes of Alan Brady at Gibbston Valley and Rolf Mills at Rippon in Wanaka, Barbara and Steve Green first planted vines in Bannockburn, Central Otago in 1994, a couple of years after Felton Road. The name, ‘Carrick’ is derived from the old gold mining town that was nearby, plus the mountain ranges to which the estate points. With an on-site winery and a heavy focus on organic and biodynamic viticulture, Carrick aims to produce stunning wines that are representative of the unique character of Bannockburn. One of the more sizable producers in Bannockburn, their overall vineyard size totals at 24 hectares!
They are known for their Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays, as well as their aromatic Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc. Carrick also produce ‘natural’ ‘sulphite-free’ wines: the Billet-Doux, Pot de Fleur and The Death of Von Tempsky.
