Cambridge Road

Cambridge Road established a 2.2 hectare vineyard of Pinot Noir and Syrah in 1986. Throughout the 1980s, most of 1990s, and into the early 2000s, the vineyards were organically farmed. The current owners are Lance and Bridie Redgwell, who purchased Cambridge Road in 2006, and continue to farm organically but now also practice bio-dynamic principles in the vineyard. In the winery, there is very little intervention (no added sulfites or filtering) to the wines. Fast-forward to today and they organically and biodynamically farm four main sites in the greater Martinborough area.

When people talk about “natural wines” what they most likely are really asking for is low-intervention wines. Cambridge Road understands this and has been carving out their slice of heaven with their Pinot Noir, Syrah, Red Blend (Pinot Noir and Syrah), Sauvignon Blanc, and the occasional bonus wine! Cambridge Road is one of the few consistent producers of petillant natural, “pet nat,” sparkling wine for sale to the general public—however, you have to be vigilant in order to get your hands on some as it sells out just as fast as it is made.
