Mount Michael

Mount Michael itself is the southernmost peak of the Pisa Range, standing tall as the guardian of the Kawarau gorge and the entrance to the Cromwell basin, overlooking the subregions of where their wines are grown. Mount Michael’s story begins back in 1994, Sue and Martin Anderson first planted a three hectare vineyard with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. After changing ownership a few times, Mount Michael was recently acquired by the Robbie family in 2015, together with Peter and his daughter, Anna, a new chapter for this winery begins.  

Now with a greater vineyard collection, the Mount Michael range produces Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Rosé. Their 2016 Isla Reserve Pinot Noir is a standout hit, the grapes from their Bendigo vineyard have produced a rich and luscious wine. This Pinot Noir is filled with red fruit and oak aromatics along with plum and liquorice notes on the palate.
