Mondillo Vineyards

Mondillo Vineyard is a boutique premium wine producer, tucked away in the heart of the historic Bendigo region in Central Otago. While founder Domenic Mondillo was born in America, his Italian heritage is steeped in many generations of cooking great food and making superb wine. Originally Domenic owned, and was the executive chef at two award winning restaurants in Queenstown, so it wasn’t long before he fully submerged himself into the world of wine. After 25 years of experience of winemaking in Oregon, America, Domenic and his partner Ally, decided to establish their own vineyard at Bendigo in 2001.  

This family run, single estate property creates exquisite award winning sustainable wines from Pinot Noir and Riesling grapes. The vineyard comprises three terraces, these terraces are layered with sandy, silty loam over alluvial gravel which provides the grapevines with a warmer profile, exceptional drainage and more minerality to the wines produced. The characteristics of this vineyard work well with the harsh Bendigo climate that offers long hot summers and cold winters. 

Each vintage of Pinot Noir produced at Mondillo since 2005 has achieved incredible reviews and recommendations from magazines, wine critics and competitions. Other releases to keep your eye out for include their limited release Bella Reserve Pinot Noir, along with their Riesling and Rosé which would go down a treat in the summertime.
