Blank Canvas was established in 2013 by the husband and wife team of international wine-maker Matt Thomson (Master of Science) and Sophie Parker-Thomson (Master of Wine).

Their collective goal is to create distinctive small-batch, single vineyard fine wines that reflect the best sub-regional sites across Marlborough, Hawke’s Bay and Central Otago. Their approach is minimalist, treading a path that incorporates both tradition and innovation, embracing both science and artistry.

The wines are distinctive and cerebral, approached unencumbered by a regime or badge and not beholden to tradition. Every vineyard, variety and vintage is approached as if it is a blank canvas. As a result, every wine tells a story, speaking of the exact place and time it is from.
