Te Whare Ra

Te Whare Ra is a small, family-owned and operated vineyard in the Marlborough subregion of Renwick.  The vineyard was originally planted in 1979 and now contains some of the oldest vines in Marlborough.  Bought in 2003 by Anna & Jason Flowerday, Te Whare Ra specialises in small-batch wines with fruit from their organically grown vineyard.  The 11 hectare vineyard is planted with 7 varietals: Pinot Noir, Syrah, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Riesling, Gewurztraminer, and of course, Sauvignon Blanc.

Ana and Jason are passionate about great wines made with minimal intervention in the winery.  As such, they use organic and biodynamic principles throughout the vineyard to produce great fruit, which allows them to make world class wines. They are certified organic by BIOGRO New Zealand and are members of Organic Winegrowers of New Zealand and NZ Biodynamic Association.

To celebrate their vineyard's 35th birthday and honour their organic principles, Anna and Jason released their Single Vineyard 5182 labels in 2014. 5182 is their certification number from BIOGRO and the perfect way to celebrate what Te Whare Ra has become.
