Mt Rosa Wines

Early pioneers originally established Mt Rosa as the legendary Kawarau Station for merino sheep, however, the dry stony, schist soils and harsh winters made this difficult. In 2000, owner Guy Boanas decided to try something different, and so the first grapevines were planted at Mt Rosa. You will find this single estate vineyard located in the heart of Gibbston, just 25 minutes from Queenstown. 

The majority of the vineyard currently consists of Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Riesling; the remaining few hectares include Sauvignon Blanc, Gamay and Pinot Blanc. Winemaker Dean Shaw from the Central Otago Wine Company has been with Mt Rosa since the very first vintage in 2002. Over the years with his help, their vineyard as well as their wine portfolio has grown. Along with their  stunning classic wine styles that they have produced, Mt Rosa have branched out and have created a fantastic mulled wine syrup, perfect to keep you warm in the winter.
