Folding Hill
Once an old sheep paddock in Bendigo, Folding Hill was established by Tim & Nikki Kerruish in 2003 in collaboration with Anne Charlesworth. Tim is a physician and Nikki is a biomedical ethicist and they purchased the property in 2001. Planting of the vineyard was done in late 2003 after being advised by the legendary Central Otago viticulturist Robin Dicey.
Folding Hill consists of 4 hectares planted solely in Pinot Noir. Viticultural services are provided by James Dicey (son of Robin Dicey) and his crew at Grape Vision. Local winemaker Fred Riends makes the two Folding Hill Pinot Noirs. Folding Hill Pinot Noir is made from a blend of grapes harvested throughout the vineyard, while the Orchard Block Pinot Noir is made entirely from a small block with a single clone. The Folding Hill Orchard Block Pinot Noir is made in very limited quantities, but well worth the time spent searching for one of these bottles.
The belief that low cropping levels provide the best fruit for showcasing this gem of a vineyard, Folding Hill limits it’s yield to 3.5-4 tonnes per hectare. The resulting wines are rich and complex, exhibiting the wonders lurking in this beautiful Bendigo fruit.
