Charcoal Gully Vineyard

Charcoal Gully produces stunning Pinot Noir and is situated on land adjacent to Mount Pisa Station in the Cromwell Basin of Central Otago. The north-facing vineyard lies on gently sloping land on the lower of two river terraces, at an altitude of 230 metres. It is the wine venture of Brian and Cheryl Sanders, who planted their first vines in 2003. Their vision is to work with the terroir and challenging Mediterranean climate of the Cromwell basin, and combine the skill of the viticulture and winemaking teams to produce sustainable single vineyard premium ‘Sally’s Pinch’ Pinot Noir, Gewürztraminer and Pinot Noir Rosé.

‘Sally’s Pinch’ refers to a small impassable basin near the summit of Mt Pisa that overlooks the vineyard. The wine itself is full-bodied, full of dark fruit and a brooding complexity.
