Brennan Wines

Brennan Wines are a family owned and operated winery located in the beautifully scenic subregion of Gibbston in Central Otago.  The original land was purchased by Dr Sir Murray Brennan in 1994 and the vineyard was among the first to be planted in Gibbston. Sean Brennan is the winemaker and produced their first vintage in 2006.  All of the wines produced are from their 13 hectare vineyard. In addition to two Pinot Noir (Brennan Pinot Noir and B2 Pinot Noir), Brennan Wines make Pinot Gris, Riesling, Gewurztraminer, Muscat, Tempranillo, Zinfandel, and Chardonnay. In 2013 Brennan Wines won champion red wine at the International Wine Challenge with 2011 B2 Pinot Noir. 

As a winemaker, Sean Brennan has differentiated himself from other winemakers in the region by producing several unique blends.  The Brennan Trio is a white blend of Gewürztraminer, Muscat, and Riesling, although there are vintage dependent slight percentage differences. Sean also produces Gibbston’s only Tempranillo, a varietal seldom seen in New Zealand and his unique take on Rosé by blending Tempranillo with Zinfandel.
